Summer Camp 2022 will be in-person

and the AAPS Covid-19 Health and Safety Protocols will be followed. 

Please note: Scholarship recipients will need to call 734.994.2300 x0 for assistance with registration.

Due to the small size of camp and the popularity of summer camps, many weeks fill quickly. You have the option to register for the waitlist in case a spot becomes available due to a cancellation of an enrolled camper. Rec & Ed staff will begin processing waitlist registrations mid-April.

Soil Superheroes
in Eberwhite Woods

June 13 - June 17

Ages: 2-6 years and an Adult. 

Come and explore the wriggling wonders of the underground-earthrworms, ants, rolly pollies and more- to see firsthand how they live. Prepare to get messy as we dig through the soil, observe the underground action, and learn about all the soil superheroes of Eberwhite woods. Each day, a new creepy crawly is featured through earth science activities, fun stories, silly songs and bug inspired arts and crafts.

Once Upon a Time
A2 Little Explorers

Ages: 3-5.5 years. 

Let your imagination soar as we take a journey to a far off land to meet characters from folk and fairy tales. We can answer many questions as we travel through Magical Kingdoms with kings, queens, dragons and more. Campers expand their interests through a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities including art, math, science & dramatic play, plus music and movement, stories and games. Will you be able to help Three Little Pigs build a safe house to keep the Big Bad Wolf out? When Goldilocks crept through the Three Bears home, what did her big eyes see? And what about these magic beans, will they grow? All of our stories come with a morning of fun activities and a happy ending. On Friday, we celebrate with an end of camp, dress-up festival.

Preschool Art Camp

Ages: 3.5-5 years. 

Calling all young artists! During this week-long art camp, children will roll up their sleeves and explore a variety of mediums and techniques including pencil, pastels, watercolor, collage, prints, mixed media, and more. We will examine picture books and take inspiration from illustrators such as Isabelle Arsenault, Eric Carle, Vanessa Brantley Newton, Erin Stead, and Juana Martinez-Neal. Please send your artist dressed for messy art play.

Animals, Art, and Science
A S.T.E.A.M. Camp

Join the Nutty Scientists to learn all about animals through a STEAM lens (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). Discover the differences between reptiles and mammals, explore where animals live and what they eat, create cute animal art, play interactive animal games and even dance like animals! Enjoy the opportunity to meet, observe, (and maybe even pet) a small animal friend! This preschool camp offers an exciting mix of awesome science, games and activities in the classroom and outdoors.

Michigan Futsol Factory Academy leads you and your child through a week of summer soccer and fun! Each day includes time for soccer, physical education, skills, snacks, and fun. Activities are designed to enhance balance, coordination, and agility. Players will be challenged to solve problems and make decisions, both with and without a ball. The camp will also include activities with different types of balls, balloons, an obstacle course, bubbles, parachutes, water balloons, hula hoops, and more. End the week with a picnic and popsicles lunch to celebrate with your new soccer friends.

Dinosaur Discovery

Calling all dinosaur explorers...welcome to the world of the dinosaur! Join Ms. Kelly to dig deeper into dinosaur life and explore what makes them incredible. Discover their habitats, food preferences and how to say their long names. Come learn how dinosaurs lived and what it would be like if these prehistoric creatures still existed with us on Earth. Create dinosaur footprints, dig for bones, and make dinosaur masks to become your very own dinosaur. Children expand their interests through a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities including art, literacy, dramatic play, music, movement, stories and games.

Ages 2.5-5 years and an Adult.

Develop your child's love for biking through obstacle courses, challenge rides, bike/car-wash stations and riding with friends. The skills for learning to ride a bike are complex and this camp offers you a week to practice together. We work on balancing, riding in a straight line, steering and braking safely during our bike-riding course. Parent support is expected but the motivation gained when riding alongside peers can be all your child needs to gain a little independence on their wheels. Children bring their own riding vehicles (push bikes, tricycles, balance bikes, training wheels and even two wheels may be used), helmets and water bottles.

Underwater Pirate Adventure 
A2 Little Explorers

July 11 - July 15

Ages: 3-5.5 years. 

Join Ms. Kelly for a week-long adventure focused on the fantastic real and imaginary beings of ocean life, pirates, mermaids, fishing, sailing and exploring the seven seas. Activities may center around the picture book, The Rainbow Fish, the eight legs of an octopus, going on a treasure hunt, and learning all about sharks, mermaids, and pirate life. Splish, splash water fun is planned, so an extra set of dry clothes may be needed. Children can expand their interests through a wide variety of indoor and outdoor choices including art, literacy, puzzles, dramatic play, music, movement, stories and games.

Magical Science of Color

Calling all artistic junior scientists! Spend a week exploring all kinds of colorful creative science with so much wonder it may seem like magic! Activities include kaleidoscopes, colorful polymer lessons and even painting with science! Camp includes time to play - indoors and outdoors, snack time and other fun, summer day camp experiences.

Buggin' Out w/Creepy Crawlies
A2 Little Explorers

Ages: 3-5.5 years. 

Come to camp to surround yourself with all things insects with Ms. Kelly and your preschool peers. Creepy Crawly camp includes diving into the science of bugs and their life cycles, insect-themed art, stories and games, collecting critters outdoors and lots of time for playing! Campers investigate the world of bugs and even learn scientific vocabulary like entomology, arachnid and exoskeleton. Each day will focus on a different insect/bug such as butterflies, bees, ladybugs, beetles and more.

Dance Camp

July 18 - July 22

Ages: 4-5 years. 

Calling all first-time and returning young dancers! Campers experience all types of dance and movement including ballet, hip hop, jazz and creative. Each morning begins with a yoga warm-up, moves into the workshop portion of a specific dance genre and includes games and group-building activities. This camp has a focus on moving the body while channeling inner creativity. Costume design leads to an end of week show on Friday.

Nutty Superheroes Jr.

July 18 - July 22

Ages: 3-5 years. 

Soar into Superhero camp to combine super powers with science! Preschoolers experiment with flying like a superman, seeing in the dark like a cat woman, creating webs like a spiderman and more! This week of camp is all about the science of superheroes through hands-on projects and fun games. From the big names in blockbuster movies to the everyday heroes we celebrate, Nutty Superheroes is packed with excitement. An amazing and NUTTY week is designed to inspire excitement for learning and science both in the classroom and outdoors.

Time for the wild rumpus to begin! Let's explore the many types of animals and their habitats on our Earth. Spend a week wandering into the wild with amazing animals from our oceans, lands, and skies creating unique animals, going on an animal safari, and exploring zoos from around the world. Campers have a blast as they focus their play and group activities around favorite animals and newly-discovered ones. Expand interests through a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities including art, literacy, dramatic, music, movement, stories and games.
